The Nancy Weir Scholarship fund was established in 1979 in recognition of the contribution by Dr Nancy Weir to music, and in particular, her work as a performer and teacher. The purpose of the fund is to assist young children aged 12 years or under residing outside the Brisbane Metropolitan area who are exhibiting outstanding musical talent to pursue their musical studies.
Whilst assistance may be granted towards the cost of tuition fees, assistance may also, in some cases, be granted to assist with travel expenses or other costs associated with involvement or participation in musical experiences such as Eisteddfodau, music festivals, auditions or workshops. Such experiences should take place outside the greater Brisbane area. The Trust Deed under which the Scholarship is administered is for the purpose of assisting young children, living in regional areas.
(Previous applicants are encouraged to re-apply. However, previous winners cannot be awarded the scholarship more than once) .
